Tenure Track/Tenured Faculty in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (3 Positions)

The Department of Psychology in the College of Sciences at Old Dominion University (ODU) seeks candidates for three faculty positions to support our Industrial/ Organizational (I/O) Psychology concentration in our Ph.D. program as part of a multiple position hiring initiative. The area of interest for research and teaching is open for all three openings. These faculty members will be responsible for:
- Conducting high quality, programmatic research.
- Seeking external research funding.
- Teaching undergraduate courses to support the undergraduate psychology curriculum at ODU.
- Teaching graduate courses in the Psychology Department.
- Mentoring Ph.D. students.
Current open positions are:
- Two positions at the Assistant Professor rank (tenure track).
- One position at the Associate or Full Professor rank (tenured). This faculty member will play a critical role in establishing the direction of the I/O Psychology concentration at ODU and assume the primary leadership, mentorship, and management role within the concentration.

About the Department of Psychology: ODU’s Department of Psychology is in the College of Sciences and includes 26 full-time faculty members, approximately 1,200 undergraduate majors, and 60 students in our graduate programs. The department offers a terminal Master’s degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. with concentrations in Health Psychology, Human Factors, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The department also participates in the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, an APA approved program. Faculty research is currently funded by NIH, NSF, SAMHSA, NASA, and other entities. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. with a concentration in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related field. The successful candidate for the tenured position will have previously earned tenure and have a research record sufficient to warrant the award of tenure at ODU (a Carnegie R1 institution). Candidates who provide evidence that their Ph.D. will be conferred by July 25, 2025 will be considered for the Assistant Professor positions.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with a research program that complements and expands that of current faculty within the Department of Psychology. The two assistant professor positions will be filled contingent upon successful completion of the search for the tenured associate/full professor position. The Assistant Professor openings are 10-month tenure-track faculty positions. Evidence of success in academic leadership with a particular emphasis on graduate program leadership, mentoring junior faculty members, and graduate program development is highly preferred for the Associate/Full Professor position.
